Privacy for the Android app

This section explains how Life of the Saints handles information in its Android app, including Google sign-in, the seven-day preview and Google Play subscriptions. Website visits, website analytics choices, contact forms and voluntary contributions are covered by the website privacy section below.

For privacy questions or requests, contact Life of the Saints at homesteadhatch@gmail.com.

Notes, reflections and devotional progress

Your personal intentions, reflections, journal entries and local display name are stored on your device. These personal journal records are excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. The subscription service does not receive their contents. Devotional progress, saved items and preferences are also stored locally; other app preferences may follow your Android backup settings.

Signing out, losing full access or deleting your app account does not erase local notes. Remove entries through the app's available controls, or clear Life of the Saints app storage in Android settings to remove local app data. Clearing app storage removes your saved data from that installation.

Google sign-in

When you choose Google sign-in, Google and Firebase Authentication process your Google identity and authentication credentials. The account record can include your email address, name and basic Google profile information, including a profile-picture reference if supplied by Google. Firebase creates a unique app user ID. We use this information to identify your account, manage full access, support your requests and protect against unauthorized access.

Google and Firebase also process technical information such as IP address, device/platform information and SDK version information to deliver and secure authentication. Life of the Saints does not ask you to send your Google password to us.

Preview and subscription information

Our backend stores your app user ID, an account identifier derived from it, account-creation time and preview-start time. Starting the seven-day preview is your choice; the preview does not automatically become a paid subscription.

If you purchase or restore full access, the app sends a Google Play purchase token, product identifier and account identifier to our backend. Google Play supplies the verified plan, subscription state, expiration and renewal information. We store the purchase association and verification information to provide access, restore eligible purchases, prevent cross-account misuse and process subscription changes. Purchase tokens are technical proof of a purchase; they are not payment-card details.

Google Play handles checkout, payment information and billing under Google's policies. Our subscription backend does not receive your full card number or payment-security code. Cancel or manage a subscription in Google Play. Cancellation and app-account deletion are separate actions.

Artwork, shared content and service information

The app downloads public saint artwork from external image hosts, including Wikimedia, over HTTPS. The host receives the requested image, request time, IP address and ordinary connection/device information. This can reveal which artwork was displayed. Wikimedia may infer approximate location from IP addresses and use request information to deliver content, prevent abuse, analyze usage and improve its services under its own privacy policy. The app does not request GPS or precise location. Image requests do not contain your journal or private prayer text.

If you choose Share on public saint content, Android passes that content to the app or recipient you select. That recipient's own privacy practices apply. The Android app does not provide a private-journal export or cloud-sync feature.

The app's sign-in and subscription services use Firebase and Google Cloud. Service logs can contain request times, response codes, connection information and technical diagnostics needed to operate and protect the service. We do not intentionally record authentication credentials, purchase tokens or private notes in application error logs. The Android app does not currently invoke Firebase AI or include Firebase Analytics event collection; the website's optional analytics are a separate feature.

Use and disclosure

We use account and subscription information to deliver the requested features, verify access, provide support and prevent fraud or abuse. Our service providers process information needed to supply authentication, hosting and billing. Public image hosts and services you open or share to process their own requests. We do not sell your personal information or use your private notes for advertising.

Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate. We may disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect users and the service. See Google's privacy policy, Firebase privacy information and Wikimedia's privacy policy for provider details.

Retention and deletion

We keep the app account, preview and linked subscription records while the account exists so that we can manage access. Deleting the app account removes its Firebase sign-in record and account-linked subscription, preview and rate-limit records from our active backend. Interrupted deletion work is retried until cleanup completes.

Some limited operational records expire separately: rate-limit counters are set to expire after one day, and hashed notification identifiers used to prevent duplicate processing are set to expire after 30 days. Those identifiers do not contain the notification body or journal contents. Automatic expiry processing may take additional time. The configured Google Cloud default log bucket retains logs for 30 days; the required administrative audit-log bucket retains logs for 400 days. These records support service operation and security and are not all removed by account deletion.

Google Play maintains its own transaction records. Your Google account, billing subscription and local notes are not deleted by deleting your Life of the Saints account. Firebase states that, after deletion is initiated, authentication data is removed from its live and backup systems within 180 days; logged IP addresses are kept for a few weeks. Other provider backup and security-retention processes may continue under their own policies.

To delete your app account or ask for account-data deletion without reinstalling the app, follow the account-deletion instructions. You can also contact us about access or correction of your account information.

Age audience and updates

The Android app is intended for people aged 16 and older, consistent with its declared Google Play audience. If you believe a child has provided personal account information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

We will update this notice when the app's information practices change. The published page will show its latest update date.

Privacy for this website

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics runs only after you choose “Allow analytics.” It helps us understand page visits and improve the site. It may process device and connection information and use analytics cookies. We send page addresses without query strings or fragments, and do not send your search terms, contact messages, or payment details. Automatic form tracking, site-search tracking, and user-provided-data collection are disabled. We do not enable advertising personalization.

Use “Analytics choices” in the footer to allow or decline analytics, or withdraw your consent. We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser preferences. Read Google’s privacy policy.

Searching and reading

Searches and filters operate in your browser. They are not sent to Google Analytics or used to build a personal religious profile. The hosting service may process request information to serve and protect the site.

Prayer tools, favorites, and read-aloud

Rosary progress, saint comparisons, and favorite names are saved only in this browser on this device. They do not sync to an account, and clearing browser data removes them. Downloaded novena plans contain your chosen dates and direct prayer links; we do not collect email addresses for reminders or send reminder emails. Read-aloud uses your browser or operating system’s synthetic voice service, which may process the selected text under its own settings.

Contact messages

Your name, reply email, message, and any other details you provide are processed by Web3Forms and delivered to our inbox so we can respond. Submissions are also stored in our Web3Forms account. Web3Forms processes technical request information for delivery and spam prevention. We use contact details to respond to your inquiry; submitting the form does not subscribe you to marketing.

Voluntary contributions

The Donate page links to Stripe’s hosted payment page. Stripe processes contributions and payment details under its own privacy policy. We do not receive card details through this website or send them to analytics. The site does not track completed contributions as purchases.
